Lunayabook

Drawing was definitely the first form of artwork that I got into. I started at the age of 1, and continued till the present day. There have been years of obsession and years of forgetting all about it, but somehow I still have the knack when I need to create something really nice. In fact, I feel much more capable with a pencil than any other art tool.

A lot of people comment on these paintings asking if they were made digitally or created from some kind of stencil. The fact is, although there are digital versions of all these, they are actually real paintings. With painting I find that I get very meticulous about lines and I really want everything to look very sharp. I don't have a loose comfortable hand with the brush at all, and I'm not sure I have the dedication as a painter to reach that point. We'll see.

It was wonderful discovering the world of digital art, when I became a professional graphic designer, illustrator and web designer for a period of about 4 years or so, around the age of 22. When I wasn't doing this for a living, I was creating interesting works like these, which often went into the realm of maps of hyperspace, explorations into time and language, and invocations of divine healing and beauty. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

I think it was something like 2006 or so when I went to Bolivia and did this series of rock paintings. I felt really inspired by the magical symbols that came through. Although these rocks faded quickly in the jungle, the visions of these symbols inspired many more works of art to come.
