I just make sure I label them, because there is no pressure to reply directly to the email if you don't have time.

A new paradigm in people and prefference driven social networking
I am not claiming to be an expert on this, but I am inspired by the idea of a style of social networking that is more based on people's individual blogs on their chosen platform (whatever works for them, looks the way they want it to and has the capabilities they need), and using a universal platform like RSS feeds so that we can all subscribe to each other and follow each other.
They say that in the internet, if you are not paying for the service, then YOU are the product, not the consumer. For that reason, I appreciate the idea of paying a little money for a domain name, perhaps some basic hosting, and in the case of this website, a paid service called Squarespace that makes it easier than Facebook to have a complete website. Then, no one is farming my information, controlling my thought streams, limiting my characters, telling me what colour things are going to be, or censoring my photos.
Why unFacebook, and why Lunayabook which sounds like Facebook?
Why unFacebook? Trust me, my arguments against Facebook are not the classic thing that you see smeared across your newsfeed every day. Check out my blog posting about this : How and why I left Facebook for good, after many years of addiction, love, obsession, and study. Not only does this explain my reasons, but it gives some great advice on how to do it very well, preserving your contacts and info.
I know many of my friends would recommend speaking in the positive - such as making up my own platform and not even having my title ring of the name Facebook, if I don't like it. But the fact is, this mega-billion dollar industry of Facebook is fueled by some of the masterminds of social networking. My time on Facebook has taught me SO MUCH about how networking can work for me, the meaning of the word privacy, how to streamline content in a way that feels easy and relevant to people, and more. I love what I have learned from Facebook and love putting it into practice on my own site.
